Half-Time Report: Mario Pasalic heads Monaco in front

Mario Pasalic's header earns Monaco a 1-0 lead over Lyon after the first half at Stade Louis II.

Mario Pasalic's header has earned AS Monaco a 1-0 lead over Lyon at the halfway stage of their Ligue 1 clash at Stade Louis II.

The home side enjoyed more of the possession for long spells of the first half, but clear chances were difficult to come by as Monaco often tried their luck from distance, with Anthony Lopes making an easy save from Joao Moutinho's speculative strike early on.

Lyon looked happy to operate on the counter-attack, but their defence looked vulnerable at times and only a fine stop from Lopes kept them from falling behind when Thomas Lemar was gifted too much space.

As Lyon continued to struggle with keeping the ball in the final third, Monaco broke the deadlock six minutes before the interval.

Lemar was the creator as his cross caused problems for the visiting defence and Pasalic lost his marker in the box to power home the header.
