Motherwell stunned Aberdeen to maintain third place in the Scottish Premier League this afternoon.

A first-half brace from Jamie Murphy set up the result, which moves the Fir Park side to within four points of leader Celtic, who play this evening.

A Brian McLean own goal denied Dundee United a win against St Johnstone. Gavin Gunning had put the home side ahead inside the opening two minutes, before McLean's own goal leveled the scores at the start of the second half.

Ross County surprised Hibernian with a 1-0 win at Easter Road. Richard Brittain scored the game's only goal, heading in a Marc Fitzpatrick cross.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Mirren played to a draw, which keeps Inverness in second place in the table on goal difference. The visitors took the lead twice through Dougie Imrie and Steven Thompson, before Inverness found equalisers.

A Liam Kelly penalty was enough to give Kilmarnock all three points against Hearts. Andy Webster fouled James Dayton to concede the spot kick, which was duly dispatched by Kelly.

Hearts had the majority of the chances but were unable to score.

Results in full: Dundee United 1-1 St Johnstone, Hibernian 0-1 Ross County, Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-2 St Mirren, Kilmarnock 1-0 Hearts, Motherwell 4-1 Aberdeen
