SPL roundup: Aberdeen leapfrog Hibernian

Sports Mole's roundup of Saturday's action from the Scottish Premier League.

Aberdeen have moved above Hibernian into second in the Scottish Premier League after beating Hibs 1-0.

A win for Hibernian would have seen the Easter Road side top the table, after Celtic lost to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Hibs had the majority of the chances, but Niall McGinn was the only player to find the back of the net to give the visitors the win.

A late goal saw St Johnstone beat 10-man Kilmarnock. Killie's captain, Manuel Pascali, was shown a straight red early in the game for a tackle on Nigel Hasselbaink. Murray Davidson made the most of the one-man advantage to give St Johnstone a lead at half-time.

Michael Nelson looked to have rescued a point for Kilmarnock with an 85th minute equaliser, but Rowan Vine added St Johnstone's second in the 89th minute.

Dundee United came from behind to beat Ross County. Iain Vigurs had given the home side a lead shortly after half-time. However, Johnny Russell and Stuart Armstrong turned the game around to secure three points for United.

St Mirren increased the gap between themselves and Dundee by beating the SPL's bottom team 3-1. Steven Thompson put St Mirren ahead in the first half, before a Ryan Conroy penalty levelled the scores. Thompson restored the home side's lead with a second, while Dougie Imrie secured the result three minutes from full-time.

Motherwell and Hearts played out a goalless draw in the early game.

Results in full: Motherwell 0-0 Hearts, Celtic 0-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hibernian 0-1 Aberdeen, Kilmarnock 1-2 St Johnstone, Ross County 1-2 Dundee United, St Mirren 3-1 Dundee
