Laura Robson ends wait for victory

Following almost a two-year period without a victory, former British number one Laura Robson records a win in Canada.

Great Britain's Laura Robson recorded her first victory in almost two years at a Challenger event in Canada earlier today.

The 21-year-old, who has dropped to 913 in the world rankings following an 18-month stint on the sidelines with a wrist injury, defeated Japanese player Naomi Osaka 7-6(5) (5)6-7 6-3 at the Granby National Bank Challenger, which is a level below the WTA Tour.

Prior to this triumph, Robson's most recent win came at the Guangzhou Open in China in September 2013.

Due to her protected ranking, Robson will be entered into the main draw for the upcoming US Open in New York.
