Andre Ayew takes positives from loss to Manchester City

Andre Ayew believes that Swansea City can take confidence from their performance in the loss to Manchester City.

Andre Ayew has suggested that Swansea City's performance in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City will give the squad confidence for their upcoming games.

Swansea were unfortunate not to secure a draw in their first game since the sacking of Garry Monk as Man City took the points in stoppage time after Bafetimbi Gomis had scored a late equaliser.

Despite extending their winless run to six games, Ayew believes that Swansea can build on their display at the Etihad Stadium.

"We showed character and a lot of good things, but at the moment the most important thing is the points," the Ghanaian told the club's website. "But hopefully we can take the good things that we did today and use it for the next few games in front of us.

"It's been a difficult week with Garry's departure, because he had been at the club for so long and done so much for the club.

"We're trying to move forward and get the results we need, and hopefully we can get out of this situation."

Swansea currently sit just one point above the relegation zone.
