Steve Evans: 'I'm at Rotherham United for years to come'

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans says that his job is safe following the team's slow start to the new Championship season.

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has reiterated that his job is safe following the team's slow start to the new Championship season.

The Millers, who made 15 summer signings, are bottom of the table after taking one point from their opening five fixtures.

Evans guided the club from League Two to the second tier, and he has insisted that chairman Tony Stewart has given him his full backing.

"We know we have started poorly, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to stand in front of Steve Evans and say that," Clubcall.com quotes Evans as saying.

"But they can't take fight and desire from me. We started poorly in League Two and we didn't start great in League One and the knockers were out. Let the knockers continue and we'll get on with business.

"My chairman has re-iterated this week that I will be here for years to come, whatever division we are in, because we manage the football club properly, prudently, and we do it with great affinity for the badge and what it means to everyone."

Rotherham finished 21st in the Championship last season.
