Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including PSG vs. Lorient

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including PSG vs. Lorient.

Strasbourg vs. Lens (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Two European-chasing teams in Ligue 1 will lock horns at the Stade de la Meinau on Sunday lunchtime, when Strasbourg play host to Lens.

The Racers have only lost one of their last 11 league games, while the visitors have won just five of their last 16 top-flight matches.

We say: Strasbourg 2-1 Lens

A closely-fought contest is set to be played out between two evenly-matched sides on Sunday, though both teams will fancy their chances of success.

Considering Strasbourg's recent unbeaten run and their threat in the final third, they may just do enough to claim a slender victory on home soil.

Clermont vs. Nantes (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Clermont will be seeking to avoid a fourth successive Ligue 1 defeat when they welcome Nantes to the Stade Gabriel Montpied on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors, meanwhile, have also suffered a slight dip in form after losing their last two league fixtures without scoring.

We say: Clermont 1-2 Nantes

With both sides lacking fully-fit squads and struggling for form, an open contest could be on the cards this weekend.

Nantes will be the favourites heading into this fixture, considering they are eight places and 14 points clear of Clermont at present, and the visitors should have enough quality in their side to edge past the hosts.

Metz vs. Monaco (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Having handed Paris Saint-Germain their heaviest defeat of the season before the international break, Monaco return to Ligue 1 action with a trip to lowly Metz at the Stade Saint-Symphorien on Sunday afternoon.

Philippe Clement's side put three unanswered goals past PSG last time out, while their upcoming hosts were on the wrong end of a 6-1 thumping against a rampant Rennes.

We say: Metz 0-3 Monaco

A chance to recharge the batteries and assess his side's dire situation would have been welcomed by Antonetti during the international period, but a two-week break is highly unlikely to lead to an immediate change in fortunes for this shot-shy outfit.

Montpellier vs. Brest (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Two sides seeking to consolidate mid-table spots for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season do battle on Sunday, as Montpellier HSC welcome Brest to the Stade de la Mosson.

La Paillade ran out 2-0 winners over Bordeaux just before the international break, while Michel der Zakarian's side went down 1-0 to Angers.

We say: Montpellier HSC 3-1 Brest

Montpellier's record in this fixture certainly speaks for itself, but with so many defenders unavailable through either injury or suspension, their chances of another clean sheet are slim.

Troyes vs. Reims (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Relegation-threatened Troyes will be looking to steer themselves clear of the bottom three with a Ligue 1 victory at home against Reims on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides played out draws in their most recent matches before the international break, with Troyes claiming a point against Saint-Etienne and Reims drawing a blank in a stalemate with Lyon.

We say: Troyes 1-1 Reims

Both teams have been difficult to beat in recent weeks so we could see a closely-fought contest played out this weekend.

The pressure is on Troyes more so than Reims to claim maximum points, but with little to separate these two sides, we can see the spoils being shared at the Stade de l'Aube.

Lyon vs. Angers (Sunday, 4.05pm)

Seeking to avoid a fourth game without a win in all competitions, Lyon return to Ligue 1 action with the visit of Angers to the Groupama Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Les Gones entered the international break on the back of a goalless stalemate with Reims, while Les Scoistes ran out 1-0 winners over Brest in front of their own fans.

We say: Lyon 2-1 Angers

Losing Caqueret ahead of such a crucial period is undoubtedly a huge blow for this Lyon side, but a refreshed Gones outfit still possess the attacking nous needed to keep up their strong goalscoring streak on home soil.

PSG vs. Lorient (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Seeking to respond to a number of setbacks prior to the international break, Paris Saint-Germain resume their quest for Ligue 1 glory against Lorient at the Parc des Princes on Sunday night.

Les Parisiens went down with a whimper in a 3-0 loss to Monaco two weekends ago, as Les Merlus managed to hold European-chasing Strasbourg to a goalless stalemate.

We say: Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 Lorient

With the prospect of Lorient deploying a low block to work around Innocent's absence, a PSG side enduring their worst spell of the season cannot expect to break down this dogged Merlus defence at will.
