Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji is reportedly 'on the verge' of a summer move to England, amid interest from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old's future with the Bundesliga outfit is believed to be uncertain as he has just over a year remaining on his contract.

United have been strongly linked with the centre-back in recent months, while Serie A giants Juventus have also been credited with an interest.

However, the Red Devils have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Akanji, as Bild reports that the Switzerland international is 'on the verge' of a move to an English club.

Akanji is understood to have rejected a contract offer from Dortmund earlier this year, and a transfer fee in the region of £25m could be enough to prise the defender away from Germany this summer.

The former Basel man has made a total of 155 appearances for Dortmund since joining the club in 2018, including 33 across all competitions this season.
