Ivan Rakitic may be shoved towards the Camp Nou exit by Barcelona in the summer as they need to balance their books, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to sell Ivan Rakitic at the end of the season to make way for incoming players.

The Croatia international is under contract until 2021 and has recently admitted that he would like to see that through.

Rakitic appears the most likely of Barca's current crop of midfielders to be shoved towards the exit, however, as Frenkie de Jong is about to join and others - including Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - are also being lined up.

ESPN reports that the Catalan giants are not planning to offer the 31-year-old a new deal, giving Manchester United a free run to sign him.

Paris Saint-Germain made a move for Rakitic last summer, with a £68m offer being tabled, but Barca talked him into staying for another year.

However, it is claimed that in order to balance the books a new home may have to be found for the Croatian if they are to push ahead with bringing in another new player or two.
