Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell hails David Edgar impact

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell expresses his delight at the performance of loanee David Edgar on his debut for the Terriers.

Chris Powell has lauded the display of David Edgar on his Huddersfield Town debut yesterday.

Edgar helped the Terriers keep a clean sheet at Wigan Athletic as they snatched victory late on at the DW Stadium to move up to 15th in the Championship.

"We knew David would sit and that would allow Conor [Coady] and Jacob [Butterfield] to push forwards alongside our strikers," Huddersfield boss Powell told the club website. "He only joined us on Thursday, but I thought he did really well.

"When I spoke to him we discussed the positions he can play and we felt defensive midfield, especially away from home, was the most important.

"He gives us a platform and does a job for the team. I think that was music to his ears, because that is his preference."

Edgar, 27, has signed for Huddersfield until the end of the season from Birmingham City, whom he only joined last summer from Burnley.
