Eintracht Frankfurt hold Mainz 05 to a draw

Haris Seferovic's late equaliser rescues a 2-2 draw for Eintracht Frankfurt that denies Mainz 05 the chance to move to the top of the Bundesliga.

Mainz 05 missed the chance to move to the top of the Bundesliga table as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Thomas Schaaf's Eintracht Frankfurt side this evening.

Three goals came in a frantic four-minute spell at the end of the first half, beginning with Jonas Hofmann's well-taken goal for the visitors on 41 minutes.

Shinji Okazaki then capitalised on Marco Russ's error to beat Kevin Trapp and score his fifth goal of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt responded immediately through Alexander Meier, who applied the finish to a neat move started by Lucas Piazon and Makoto Hasebe to reduce the deficit to 2-1 at half time.

A victory would have moved Mainz 05 to the top of the league, but with just eight minutes remaining Haris Seferovic rose at the back post to head home substitute Marc Stendera's free kick and spoil Kasper Hjulmand's evening.
