Preview: Curacao vs. Trinidad and Tobago - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's CONCACAF Nations League clash between Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Trinidad and Tobago will look to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League when they face Curacao on Tuesday.

In contrast to the visitors, Curacao only have pride to play for after their relegation to League B was confirmed with a defeat to Panama.

Curacao have experienced a disappointing Nations League campaign, having lost all three of their matches in League A.

They lost 1-0 to both TNT and Martinique, before they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Panama on matchday three.

Goals from Yoel Barcenas and Puma gave Panama a two-goal lead in Thursday's contest, and although Rangelo Janga halved the deficit in the 94th minute, it proved to be too little too late.

The result extended their winless run to 10 matches and confirmed their relegation to League B alongside El Salvador.

Curacao are still waiting for their first win since edging out Honduras in an away fixture in June 2022, while their last home victory took place against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in March 2021.

The visitors are the only team in the two groups in League A to still boast a 100% record after three rounds of matches.

After beginning their campaign with a 1-0 win over Curacao, TNT went on to claim a 3-2 victory in their away meeting with El Salvador.

They saw a repeat of that scoreline in Friday's clash with Guatamela, where they pulled off an impressive comeback after conceding two goals in the opening 31 minutes.

Alvin Jones dispatched his 36th-minute penalty to pull a goal back, before Reon Moore and Nathaniel James found the net in the second period to complete a dramatic turnaround.

Angus Eve's side are well set to secure their spot in the top two, with the group leaders sitting three points clear of third-placed Martinique, whose goal difference stands at -1 compared to Trinidad and Tobago's +3.

Team News

Godfried Roemeratoe is in contention to start for the hosts after featuring for the final 25 minutes of Friday's defeat.

Trevor Doornbusch will continue in goal, and he will be shielded by the central-defensive pairing of Justin Ogenia and Roshon van Eijma.

Having scored Curacao's only goal of the Nations League campaign, Janga will offer one of the home side's main goal threats.

As for the visitors, Tyrone Charles is a fitness concern after being withdrawn in the 20th minute of Friday's encounter.

Moore, who replaced Charles in the first half, could be rewarded with a starting place after finding the net in the 3-2 victory.

Kaile Auvray featured for the final 30 minutes against Guatemala, and he is in contention to start Tuesday's away fixture.

Curacao possible starting lineup:
Doornbusch; Markelo, Ogenia, Van Eijma, Gaarl; Roemeratoe, Anita; Kuwas, Bacuna, Gorre; Janga

Trinidad and Tobago possible starting lineup:
Smith; Jones, David, Garcia, Russell; Telfer, Poon-Angeron, Hackshaw, Powder; Moore, Rampersad

We say: Curacao 1-2 Trinidad and Tobago

While Curacao have lost all three matches in the Nations League, the visitors are yet to drop points in the competition, and we think that the in-form side will maintain their 100% record by claiming a narrow victory on Tuesday.
