Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc plays down suggestions that Jadon Sancho will be allowed to leave the club in January.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has played down suggestions that Jadon Sancho will be allowed to leave the club during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks, while Chelsea are thought to be preparing a club-record move for the England international having had their transfer ban lifted.

However, Zorc has claimed that 'there is not a scenario' where the teenager could be allowed to leave BVB in the middle of the season.

"We're continuing to plan with him. He's a fundamental player for us and I do not see any scenario where he leaves us," Zorc told reporters.

"We have already had some situations with him to talk about, and there have been a lot of interviews in the last few weeks. We are in a good way; when he came off the bench in Barcelona and also in Berlin, he gave us a top performance."

Sancho has scored nine times and registered 10 assists in 20 appearances for Dortmund during the 2019-20 campaign.

The attacker's relationship with his club has broken down in recent weeks, though, and speculation surrounding his future in Germany continues to gather pace.
