Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. West Bromwich Albion

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup showdown with West Bromwich Albion.

Still seeking their first competitive win of the new season, Arsenal travel to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday for the second round of the EFL Cup.

The Gunners have suffered back-to-back 2-0 defeats in their first two Premier League games of the season, being sunk by Brentford before Chelsea made the Emirates their playground the weekend just gone.

Arsenal enter this stage of the EFL Cup after failing to qualify for European football last season, and they are seeking to end a 28-year-drought in the competition stretching all the way back to their triumph in 1993.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Thomas Partey

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Norwich City)

The luckless Thomas Partey sustained an ankle injury during the Mind Series defeat to Chelsea and is not expected to be back in action until after the international break.

Eddie Nketiah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Norwich City)

As is the case with Partey, Eddie Nketiah also sustained an ankle problem in the friendly loss to Chelsea earlier this month and is set for another couple of weeks of rehabilitation.

Gabriel Magalhaes

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Norwich City)

Gabriel Magalhaes was forced to withdraw from Brazil's triumphant Olympic team after picking up a knee injury. The defender has been pictured in Arsenal training recently but is not expected back just yet.

Willian

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: August 25 (vs. West Brom)

Willian - who is being heavily linked with an exit from the club this summer - also contracted COVID-19 before the defeat to Brentford and was not involved against Chelsea, making a comeback here seem unlikely.

Ben White

Status: Out
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: Unknown

Ben White became the fifth Gunners player to test positive for coronavirus this month before the Chelsea clash, and Mikel Arteta does not expect him to be fit for Manchester City, let alone this clash.

Kieran Tierney

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: August 25 (vs. West Brom)

Kieran Tierney was forced off in the second half against Chelsea with quad cramps, Arteta confirmed, and the defender is unlikely to be risked this week, despite returning to full training.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Cramp
Possible return date: August 25 (vs. West Brom)

In another painful sight for Gunners fans, Gabriel Martinelli was forced to hobble off the field on Sunday with cramp - which should not keep the Brazilian starlet out for long - but Wednesday may be too big a risk for a player who has not had the best of luck with injuries.

Hector Bellerin

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: August 25 (vs. West Brom)

Arsenal's 10th possible absentee for the trip to The Hawthorns is Hector Bellerin, who was ruled out of the visit of Chelsea with thigh trouble and is still being tipped to leave in the coming days, but he has returned to training ahead of this game.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST
