AC Milan rate Carlo Ancelotti return as 50-50

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani remains hopeful that Carlo Ancelotti will punt for a return to San Siro after recently been sacked by Real Madrid.

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has revealed that there is a 50% chance that recently-sacked Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will return to San Siro this summer.

The Italian was relieved of his duties in the Spanish capital on Tuesday after overseeing a trophiless season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi is heavily expected to be axed in the coming weeks as the Rossoneri sit 10th in Serie A, with one matchday remaining.

Ancelotti previously led the club to two Champions League titles in 2003 and 2007, and Galliani says that he will know by Wednesday if the 55-year-old wants a second spell.

"He will give us his final answer next Wednesday," he told Sport Mediaset.

"According to Carlo the decision is 50-50, but we are hoping that on Wednesday it will become 100%, but I fear it may become zero. We agree on everything, we will see what he says.

"In any case our bond with Inzaghi will not end, we'll see what happens."

Ancelotti won five major honours in total during his previous spell with Milan, from 2001 until 2009.
