Piri Weepu, Martyn Thomas join Wasps until the end of the season

Piri Weepu and Martyn Thomas join Wasps until the end of the season.

Wasps have announced the signings of Piri Weepu and Martyn Thomas until the end of the season.

World Cup winner Weepu joins from London Welsh after being released early from his Exiles contract. He will stay with Wasps until he moves to French side Oyonnax next season.

Thomas, 27, signs from Newport Gwent Dragons for the remainder of the campaign. He joined Dragons in 2012 after spending the previous two seasons at Gloucester Rugby.

"Both players have great experience at the top level," head coach Dai Young told Wasps's website. "We expect them both to add a great deal to this squad as we enter the latter stages of the season.

"With the injury list we currently have in the outside backs and at scrum half, they will both provide some depth to the squad, which is crucial at this stage in the season."

New Zealand international Weepu has been named in tomorrow's matchday squad against Gloucester Rugby.
