Sunday's Ligue 1 predictions including Monaco vs. Toulouse

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Ligue 1 fixtures, including Monaco vs. Toulouse.

Strasbourg vs. Lorient (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Looking to bounce back following a defeat last time out, Strasbourg will welcome strugglers Lorient to Stade de la Meinau for a Ligue 1 clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Blue and Whites were beat away at Lens during their most-recent fixture, while Lorient secured a much-needed three points over Reims on home soil.

We say: Strasbourg 2-1 Lorient

Despite a difficult result last time out, Strasbourg have proven their ability to compete in the top half of the division and should be confident of winning on Sunday.

Lorient have been impressive in back-to-back successes, but we cannot imagine them making it three-straight wins at Stade de la Meinau this weekend.

Rennes vs. Clermont (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Following a difficult night in the Europa League, Rennes will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Clermont at Roazhon Park on Sunday afternoon in Ligue 1.

Les Rennais were smashed 3-0 by Italian giants AC Milan on Thursday night on the continent, whereas Les Lanciers secured a point in their most recent fixture.

We say: Rennes 2-0 Clermont

Rennes endured a difficult evening in Milan on Thursday, but they should be very confident of returning to winning ways against the division's basement dwellers.

Clermont conceded four without laying a glove on Lille during their last Ligue 1 outing, and we are expecting a similar story for Les Lanciers at Roazhon Park on Sunday afternoon.

Monaco vs. Toulouse (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Seeking their first victory at Stade Louis II this year, Monaco will host Toulouse on matchday 22 of the Ligue 1 campaign on Sunday.

Last weekend, Les Monegasques won for the first time domestically in 2024, defeating arch-rivals Nice 3-2, while Le Tef were beaten 2-1 by Nantes.

We say: Monaco 2-0 Toulouse

Morale should be high in the Principality following that dazzling attacking display against Nice, and even without two key attacking pieces, we are tipping Monaco to defeat a side in Toulouse who have been far more inconsistent while lacking quality in the final third.

Montpellier vs. Metz (Sunday, 2.00pm)

A crunch battle in the Ligue 1 basement takes place at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday afternoon, as Montpellier HSC pit their wits against Metz.

La Paillade succumbed to a Lyon fightback in a 2-1 loss to Les Gones last time out, while Les Grenats benefitted from Marseille's indiscipline in a 1-1 draw with Gennaro Gattuso's side.

We say: Montpellier HSC 1-0 Metz

Home wins are a rarity when La Paillade and Les Grenats lock horns, as Montpellier have suffered three defeats and two draws from their last five clashes with Metz at the Stade de la Mosson, going without victory in this exact fixture since 2014.

The visitors' efforts against Marseille were commendable, but they must be taken with a pinch of salt owing to Marseille's numerical disadvantage, and Montpellier boast a couple of difference makers in Adams and Teji Savanier capable of conjuring up a magic moment.

Reims vs. Lens (Sunday, 4.05pm)

Seeking their first Ligue 1 triumph at Stade Auguste-Delaune this year, Reims will host Lens on matchday 22 of the domestic campaign on Sunday.

Les Rouges et Blancs suffered a 2-0 defeat to Lorient last weekend, dropping them down to ninth in the table, while Lens are behind Lille on goal difference for the final spot in Europe following a 3-1 victory over Strasbourg.

We say: Reims 1-1 Lens

While Lens have had the better of Reims in recent fixtures, they have never beaten them on three successive occasions in the top flight, and with a relatively healthy squad, we expect a much better showing from the home side this weekend.

Brest vs. Marseille (Sunday, 7.45pm)

Aiming to boost their Champions League hopes at the expense of their opponents' top-four chances, Brest host Marseille at the Stade Francis Le-Ble in Sunday's intriguing Ligue 1 battle.

Les Pirates' plateau continued with a 1-1 draw away to basement team Clermont last weekend, while the Olympiens most recently shared the spoils with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League.

We say: Brest 1-1 Marseille

With Marseille only having to travel as far as Germany rather than Ukraine in midweek, Les Olympiens' Europa League fatigue will be nowhere near as restrictive as it could have been, but their away form in Ligue 1 has been nothing short of shocking.

Roy's men may have lost their winning touch in recent weeks and will rue the absence of first-choice stopper Bizot, but Les Pirates have been virtually impenetrable on their own patch this term and should be good enough for a point against Gattuso's charges, who may be lucky to escape with a draw.
