Spanish side Sevilla are reportedly set to beat Everton in the race to secure the loan signing of Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

Sevilla have reportedly won the race for the loan signing of Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

The 20-year-old extended his contract earlier this month, keeping him at Old Trafford until the end of the 2024-25 season.

While he may have penned a new deal with the club, Hannibal has been linked with a move away following a lack of game time.

The Tunisia international has been restricted to 10 competitive appearances this season, six of which have come from the bench.

With Hannibal and the club keen for him to gain regular playing time, a decision has been made for him to head out on loan.

Spanish side Sevilla emerged as an early contender for the youngster, before Everton entered the race to secure his signature.

However, according to The Athletic, Sevilla are set to fend off Everton's interest after reaching a provisional agreement with Man United.

The two clubs have negotiated a loan deal until the end of the season with a €20m (£17.2m) purchase option including add-ons.

While Sevilla have the right to buy Hannibal in the summer, Man United are set to include a buy-back clause, giving them the option to sign him in the future.

The report claims that Hannibal will now travel to Spain to undergo a medical while the final details of the deal are being ironed out.

Sevilla will hope that the midfielder can hit the ground running, as they look to spark an upturn in fortunes following a difficult campaign.

The Andalusian side were knocked out of Europe after finishing bottom of their Champions League group, while they are currently in 17th place in La Liga and just one point above the drop zone.

They are also onto their third manager of the season, with Quique Sanchez Flores currently in the dugout following his appointment in December.

Sevilla are set to face Getafe in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday, before they go up against league leaders Girona in Sunday's La Liga meeting.
