Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to rival a number of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Lille forward Jonathan David.

Lille forward Jonathan David has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Bayern Munich.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a legendary stint with the French outfit, initially helping them win the Ligue 1 title in the 2020-21 campaign.

While Lille have regressed since that shock achievement, David's reputation has continued to rise, the Canada international now having 54 goals and nine assists in 129 appearances in all competitions.

As many as 20 of those strikes have come in France's top flight this campaign, keeping David in the shop window for a future move to a bigger club.

Regardless of whether Lille are able to earn European football for next season, that switch is likely to occur in the summer with Les Dogues eager to generate the biggest fee possible.

Arsenal, Manchester United and RB Leipzig are among the clubs that have been linked with the versatile attacker, and David himself has acknowledged that he is open to a transfer to the Premier League or La Liga.

However, according to Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, the latter of the aforementioned clubs may not be the only German team to push for a deal.

Bayern are allegedly monitoring the situation as they consider how to strengthen their forward ranks under Thomas Tuchel next season.

Although Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has netted 17 times in all competitions in 2022-23, Bayern require a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

The report claims that the Bundesliga leaders have scouted David on more than one occasion and hold a high opinion of the player.

Nevertheless, there are not said to be be any concrete talks at this stage, with discussions with Tuchel expected to take place in due course.

Bayern now have just six matches remaining this season with the club having been eliminated from the Champions League by Manchester City on Wednesday night.

A two-point gap is currently the margin over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table, with Tuchel due to take his side to former club Mainz 05 on Saturday.
