Bruno Fernandes says that "no one has to know" what the Manchester United squad feel about Cristiano Ronaldo's situation at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes has insisted that "no one has to know" what the Manchester United squad feel about the situation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 37-year-old was dropped for Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea after refusing to enter the field as a late substitute against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

In his absence, Man United played out a 1-1 draw with the Blues, coming from behind to secure a share of the spoils, with Casemiro netting a last-gasp equaliser for the 20-time English champions.

Ronaldo, as it stands, is expected to re-join first-team training with the club on Monday to prepare for Thursday's Europa League contest with Sheriff Tiraspol.

Fernandes was asked about the situation in the aftermath of the draw at Stamford Bridge.

The attacker, who is currently wearing the captain's armband due to Harry Maguire's absence, insisted that any feelings that the players have on the matter will be kept private.

"We do not talk about it, we keep it quiet inside," Fernandes told Sky Sports News. "We have to deal with that inside, no one has to know what we think, want or what will happen. We don't know, the most important thing for everyone, including Cristiano, is that the team wins."

Man United appeared to be heading for their fourth Premier League defeat of the campaign when Jorginho sent Chelsea ahead from the penalty spot in the 87th minute of the contest.

A foul from Scott McTominay on Armando Broja led to the spot kick being awarded, with Jorginho sending David de Gea the wrong way from the penalty spot.

However, Casemiro converted a Luke Shaw cross to level late on, with the Brazilian's header just dropping over the line despite the best efforts of Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

"The first half was really good from us after the tactical changes. We had some problems in the middle but we found our positions and had chances," Fernandes added.

"They get the goal from the penalty but we kept fighting, the spirit was amazing. A point is not what we wanted but it's a good point. The togetherness and the spirit is amazing, we showed it once again."

Man United would reportedly be prepared to let Ronaldo leave the club on a free transfer in January, but there are currently a lack of suitors for the Portugal international.

The 20-time English champions allegedly only received one concrete offer for the forward over the summer, with Al-Hilal prepared to pay him a substantial salary to move to Saudi Arabia.

Man United have another six matches before the campaign breaks for the World Cup, taking on Sheriff, West Ham United, Real Sociedad, Aston Villa twice and Fulham, and they will then not be back in action until Boxing Day at home to Nottingham Forest.
