How Manchester City could line up against Southampton

Ahead of Manchester City's Premier League clash with Southampton, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola could set out his side.

The games keep coming thick and fast for Manchester City as they prepare for Saturday afternoon's Premier League trip to Southampton.

Pep Guardiola's side have drawn back to back matches, against Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion, and are eight points off top spot with a game in hand.

City rotated their squad for the draw with West Brom and Guardiola is expected to revert back to his strongest possible XI this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Citizens could line up at St Mary's.

Guardiola has near enough a fully-fit squad to choose from on Saturday, with defenders Ruben Dias and Oleksandr Zinchenko his only likely absentees.

John Stones has been in good form of late but was rested for the West Brom match, as were the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Fernandinho and Kyle Walker.

Each of those should return against Southampton, while Sergio Aguero is another in contention to return to the XI after making his latest injury comeback from the bench in midweek.

Ilkay Gundogan was on target last time out and may have done enough to retain his place in holding midfield, though Rodri is another option.
