Chris Powell eyeing "two or three" new signings at Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell is targeting "two or three" key signings this summer as well as retaining the services of Oscar Gobern and Ishmael Miller.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell has claimed that he is targeting "two or three" key signings this summer as well as retaining the services of out-of-contract duo Oscar Gobern and Ishmael Miller.

Town have trimmed their squad this term with the likes of Oliver Norwood, Danny Ward, Jon Stead, Anthony Gerrard, Martin Paterson, Lee Peltier, Jordan Sinnott and Matt Crooks moving on, while Jacob Butterfield, Mark Hudson and Conor Coady have come in to impress at the John Smith's Stadium.

Powell told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner: "I don't think we will re-sign as many as we have lost, but maybe another two or three. Supporters always want to see it and, as a manager, you do it because it gives fresh impetus to the group and, hopefully, more quality.

"We definitely have quality here but you are always looking to improve where you can and it's always exciting when fans see a few new names – especially one or two they can get excited by.

"That's what I'm looking at and hopefully [Gobern and Miller] will re-sign and then there's scope to get two or three more."

The Terriers currently sit 16th in the Championship table, although they could potentially finish higher depending on what is made of their final-day match against Blackpool, which was abandoned after Tangerines fans protested against the club owners on the Bloomfield Road pitch.
