Bayer Leverkusen see off Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayer Leverkusen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 to remain in fourth place in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen remain ahead of Wolfsburg in the hunt for the final Champions League spot with a 2-0 win away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Leverkusen started well and an early chance fell the way of the visitors, but Gonzalo Castro's shot from just outside the box went narrowly over the bar.

Then on 13 minutes Emre Can was the first player to work either goalkeeper with a strike from the edge of the box, but Kevin Trapp held on well in the home goal.

Just before the half-hour mark Leverkusen's dominance paid off with the opening goal, as Castro was found inside the box by Eren Derdiyok to fire in low.

The lead became 2-0 with nine minutes of the first half remaining. After a scramble in the box Can struck a post before following in on his own rebound to score.

It continued to be one-way traffic after the break and Sebastian Boenisch probably should have extended the lead but he could only head over following a corner, but it mattered little as his side cruised to victory.
