Derby County handed Darren Bent boost ahead of season finale

Derby County first-team coach Paul Simpson confirms that Darren Bent is back to full fitness after sitting out the trip to Millwall with illness over the weekend.

Derby County have been given a boost with the news that Darren Bent is back to full fitness ahead of the final day of the Championship season on Saturday.

The Aston Villa loanee missed Saturday's 3-3 draw at Millwall because of illness, but was back training with the squad today.

Derby first-team coach Paul Simpson told the club website: "He's fine and we should have him available for the game on Saturday, barring any problems during the week.

"Benty has big-game experience and is a top player, so it will be a boost to have him back in the squad and adding to the options that we have already."

Since Bent arrived in January, he has scored 12 goals in 16 appearances for the Rams.

Derby host Reading on Saturday and know that they have to avoid defeat to ensure they finish in the playoff places.
