Throughout the match Palace caused Bournemouth plenty of problems, but they could not add to the first-half goal scored by Scott Dann.

The defender put the home side in front after 26 minutes by turning home Wilfried Zaha's fierce cross from close range.

The Eagles' lead lasted just six minutes, with Marc Pugh working some space for himself in the box before finishing past Wayne Hennessey.

Afobe's winner - the third game in a row in which he has scored - arrived in the 57th minute when he pounced on a loose ball after Hennessey could only parry a shot from Matt Ritchie.

Marouane Chamakh spurned Palace's best chance of earning something from the match when he fired straight at Artur Boruc, while Emmanuel Adebayor was thrown on for his debut late on and also went close.

Bournemouth held out, though, and Eddie Howe's side are unbeaten in four matches. Palace, meanwhile, have lost four league games in a row and the Cherries are now just three points behind them and seven clear of the drop zone.
