Jon Stead has insisted that Bradford City were good value for their surprise 2-0 victory over Sunderland in the FA Cup this afternoon.

The League One side continued their impressive cup run by claiming another Premier League scalp at Valley Parade, just weeks after seeing off Chelsea in West London.

Stead's second-half strike added to an early John O'Shea own goal, as the former Black Cats man continued his own personal run of scoring in every round of this season's competition.

"It was thoroughly deserved," he is quoted as saying by the Shields Gazette following the triumph. "The boys have performed fantastically well. We limited Sunderland to hardly any chances.

"We've performed fantastically well – the boys don't need any encouragement. We're playing against brilliant opposition and they're all up for it. A full packed house and everyone's up for the game.

"From the first whistle everyone ran their socks off, worked hard for each other, and it's thoroughly deserved. Being in this position, in the quarter-finals of the cup, it's a massive reward and bonus for everyone. We're just living the dream at the moment."

The draw for the final eight of the competition is made tomorrow evening, with Bradford now just one game away from a Wembley return.
