Bayern Munich's Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo are both included in Cameroon's 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Bayern Munich's Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo have both been included in Cameroon's 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Choupo Moting has established himself as a first-team regular with the Bundesliga champions over the last month and has enjoyed a fine spell of form in front of goal, scoring nine times in his last eight appearances across all competitions.

The 33-year-old forward will be competing at his third World Cup having previously represented the Indomitable Lions at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments, and he is one of just five members of Rigobert Song's squad who have earned more than 50 caps for their country.

Meanwhile, Brentford's Mbeumo – who decided to switch nationalities from France to Cameroon earlier this year – will be heading to his first World Cup with just two international caps to his name.

The 23-year-old, who has scored three goals in 14 Premier League appearances so far this term, has had to provide a supporting role for Bees striker Ivan Toney, and he will now be attempting to force his way into Song's first-team plans on the international stage.

Indeed, Song has plenty of attacking options at his disposal, with Choupo Moting and Mbeumo set to compete with the likes of experienced captain Vincent Aboubakar, who currently plies his trade with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, Lyon's Karl Toko Ekambi, Besitkas' Georges-Kevin N'koudou and Shanghai Shenhua's Christian Bassogog.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is one of four Serie A players called up by Cameroon along with defender Enzo Ebosse (Udinese) and midfield duo Martin Hongla (Hellas Verona) and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Napoli), while former Torino centre-back Nicolas Nkoulou – now at Greek outfit Aris Thessaloniki – is also included.

Song has also selected forward Souaibou Marou (Coton Sport) and midfielder Jerome Ngom (Colombe Dja), who are the only two home-based players in the 26-man squad and made their international debuts in Wednesday's 1-1 friendly draw with Jamaica.

One surprise omission from Cameroon's World Cup squad is experienced Gent centre-back Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, who captained the Indomitable Lions through their successful qualification campaign.

Cameroon will lock horns with five-time world champions Brazil as well as Serbia and Switzerland in Group G, with their opening fixture in Qatar against the latter on November 24.
