Luis Suarez admits crying for days over Barcelona exit

Atletico Madrid forward Luis Suarez admits that he spent days crying over the treatment he received during his final few days at Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez has lifted the lid on his final days at Barcelona, admitting that he spent days crying over his treatment at Camp Nou.

The former Liverpool man was told by new manager Ronald Koeman that he was not in his plans going forward, and Barcelona demoted Suarez to individual training as they looked to find a buyer for the Uruguay international.

Suarez sealed a switch to fellow La Liga giants Atletico after a move to Juventus collapsed, and the forward has since opened up on his acrimonious exit from Catalonia.

"I didn't take it very well because of the way they (Barcelona) did it, more than anything. One has to accept when his cycle is over," Suarez told Uruguayan TV.

"It was days I spent crying because of the situation I was living. Then [I went back] to enjoying myself, once again be valued as a player, be loved, feel the care of a club that welcomed me marvellously.

"There are things that are not known. But to go to Barcelona and be sent to train separately because you don't belong among the 22 players... My wife was the one that saw me upset, with my head down.

"They just wanted to see me happy."

Suarez amassed 198 goals from 283 games for the Catalan giants, placing him third on Barcelona's all-time top goalscorers list behind Lionel Messi and Cesar.
