Henrikh Mkhitaryan unsure about Arsenal future beyond loan spell

Henrikh Mkhitaryan voices doubts over his long-term Arsenal future after completing a season-long loan move to AS Roma.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has expressed doubts over what the future holds for him at Arsenal following his season-long loan spell with AS Roma.

The Armenian moved to the Emirates from Manchester United in January 2018 as part of a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez - a deal which has not benefited either club.

It was confirmed on Italian deadline day that Mkhitaryan, who has managed just nine goals from 57 appearances at Arsenal, had completed a surprise loan move to the Serie A side.

Asked about what the future holds for him after this season, Mkhitaryan told VBET News: "Let's first see what I can do in Roma and at the end of the season I think we can talk if I will have the possibility to stay or to go to something else, I don't know.

"Now, I cannot say about future, it's better to be focused on the next games. The team is a very good team and I'm going to try and do my best to help the team to achieve."

The 30-year-old has previously spoken of how a lack of playing time under Unai Emery led to his decision to join Roma for this season.

Chris Smalling, who is deemed surplus to requirements at United, also completed a deadline day loan move to the Italian capital.
