Henrikh Mkhitaryan is excited about the "new chapter" in his career after joining Serie A side Roma from Arsenal, where he struggled to adapt to the Premier League.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has expressed his excitement for a "new chapter" of his career after joining Roma on a season-long loan from Arsenal.

The Armenian had struggled in the Premier League, scoring just eight times in the competition for the Gunners from 39 appearances and has been moved on to make way for an exciting crop of academy talent.

Having landed in the Italian capital, Mkhitaryan revealed his eagerness to take the opportunity to play in a new country, having already plied his trade in Germany and England.

"It will be nice to be able to live the experience of Italian football," Mkhitaryan told the Evening Standard.

"For me it means a lot. It is a new opportunity, the beginning of a new chapter in my career. Doing it in this club is fantastic.

"I know what this club represents and I am sure that this team can achieve great things."

Roma will pay a £2.75m loan fee but an option to buy the 30-year-old has not been inserted into the deal.
