Henrikh Mkhitaryan says that he and his Arsenal teammates will "fight" for manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that he and his teammates will rally behind manager Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has come under fire over the last few days due to some unwanted results, including last weekend's EFL Cup final defeat to Manchester City.

Mkhitaryan signed for the Gunners from Manchester United in the January transfer window as part of a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez.

So far, the Armenian has made five appearances in all competitions, creating four assists in total, but the 29-year-old has admitted that the current situation is tough.

"It's not the easiest time for the club, but we are here to help, do our best, and put Arsenal on the level that it was before," Mkhitaryan told Sky Sports News. "I know it's not going to be easy, but we're trying, and doing our best.

"It's a pleasure to work with [Wenger]. He knows a lot about football, he can give you good advice, and I'm very happy to be here.

"Of course it's not very easy for him either, but we have to play for the club, play for him, because he is a big role model for this team, big person at this club, so we have to do our best to show we are ready to fight for him."

Wenger signed a new two-year contract at the Emirates last summer.
