Thursday's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup: Emiliano Martinez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Folarin Balogun

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Thursday, September 17.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected last summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are reportedly pressing to complete the signing of Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson as soon as possible.

Earlier this week, deputy stopper Emiliano Martinez departed the Emirates Stadium to become number one at Aston Villa in a £20m deal.

Rather than spend a big fee on a replacement, the Gunners have instead set their sights on bringing in Iceland international Runarsson.

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal want to sign the 25-year-old in time for the player to feature among the replacements against West Ham United on Saturday.

For that to occur, a deal needs to be made official before Friday's 12pm deadline, leaving club officials under pressure to finalise terms on Thursday.

Runarsson has made 45 appearances during his two seasons at Dijon.

Report: Two big clubs tried to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer

Arsenal reportedly rejected offers for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from 'two big clubs' before signing the Gabon international to a new three-year contract.

The 31-year-old ended the speculation surrounding his future when he penned a new deal with the Gunners on Tuesday, and he is now contracted to Mikel Arteta's side until June 2023.

The attacker was strongly linked with a move away from the Gunners towards the back end of last season, with Barcelona thought to be in the hunt for his signature.

According to Sky Sports News, 'there were two major offers' for Aubameyang from 'two big clubs' during this summer's transfer window, but Arsenal managed to convince their captain to commit his future to the club.

The former AC Milan youngster enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 campaign at club level, scoring 29 times in 44 appearances in all competitions.

Aubameyang has also started this season with two goals in two appearances, netting against Liverpool in the Community Shield before registering against Fulham in the Premier League.
