Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips calls on his teammates to banish their painful memories of past defeats to Australia.

Wales star Mike Phillips is hoping that his side can banish painful memories of past defeats to Australia when the sides meet this Saturday.

The scrum-half has not tasted victory over the Australians in eight attempts, but takes confidence from the fact that the last two defeats were by a combined total of just three points.

"We lost the three Tests in the summer by a total of 11 points, and teams have gone down there in the past and had hidings. We have to get over that bridge," he said.

"We haven't been far away and we can take confidence from that. But we can also take the disappointments and feelings from those changing rooms as motivation.

"The boys were extremely low and it's a chance for us to get rid of those bad memories."

Wales go into the game desperate to avoid an autumn whitewash of four defeats and maintain their position in the world's top eight ahead of the 2015 World Cup draw on Monday.
