Ben Westwood handed two-game ban for Luke Gale shoulder strike

Warrington Wolves back-rower Ben Westwood is charged with a Grade B shoulder strike on Luke Gale, meaning that he will miss his side's next two games.

Ben Westwood will miss Warrington Wolves' Challenge Cup semi-final tie against Hull Kingston Rovers after being handed a two-game ban.

The 34-year-old faced a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday evening, having been accused of a Grade B shoulder strike on Luke Gale in last weekend's 44-6 victory at Castleford Tigers.

Rugby Football League chiefs have now suspended Westwood for two matches, while also fining the experienced back-rower £300.

As well as missing Saturday's cup semi-final, Westwood will also sit out the opening game of Warrington's Super 8s campaign.
