Manchester United have reportedly stolen a march on Barcelona and Manchester City in the race to sign Palmeiras forward Gabriel Veron.

The 18-year-old has earned links with a move to a host of European heavyweights after scoring eight goals and setting up three more in 33 games for the Brazilian club.

Palmeiras are thought to be prepared to cash in on the Brazil Under-17s international this month if a €20m (£17.63m) offer is tabled.

Spanish outlet Sport suggests that United are now the favourites to complete a move for Veron, having worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that he chooses them over Barca and bitter rivals City.

United, who beat Fulham 2-1 on Wednesday night to move back into top spot in the Premier League, are also said to be targeting a loan move for Inter Milan playmaker Christian Eriksen.

Manchester United make six-month loan bid for Christian Eriksen?

Manchester United have reportedly approached Inter Milan over the possibility of taking unwanted playmaker Christian Eriksen on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Denmark international is free to leave San Siro this month after struggling to fit into Antonio Conte's system since arriving 12 months ago.

Inter are keen on a permanent sale for a player that they spent £17m to sign from Tottenham Hotspur, but a loan exit may also be a possibility.

According to Duncan Castles on The Transfer Window podcast, Inter are now pondering United's offer to take Eriksen for the next six months.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their squad this month, but like most clubs they are not in a financial position to spend big on new recruits during the coronavirus pandemic.

Eriksen has featured 14 times for Inter in all competitions this term and has yet to register a goal or an assist.
