Sports Mole looks ahead to the Championship opener between promotion contenders Middlesbrough and Leicester City at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has a pair of summer signings fighting for inclusion in the team this afternoon, as Leicester City travel north for their Championship opener at the Riverside Stadium.

Summer signings Jozsef Varga and Dean Whitehead could form a new-look midfield partnership for Mowbray's side, while free agent Frazer Richardson is unlikely to feature after signing only last night.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has a virtually fully-fit squad to choose from, with David Nugent available after shrugging off a thigh injury.

New arrival Zoumana Bakayogo is chasing a start at full-back ahead of Paul Konchesky, but may have to settle for a place on the bench.

The Foxes are unbeaten in 10 matches against Boro, as their fifth successive Championship campaign gets underway in the North East.

Possible lineups:

Boro: Steele, Hoyte, Williams, Woodgate, Friend, Varga, Whitehead, Leadbitter, Carayol, Emnes, Jutkiewicz

Leicester: Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan, Whitbread, Konchesky, St Ledger, Drinkwater, James, Vardy, Wood, Nugent

Sports Mole says: 1-1
