Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville slams the Red Devils for their performance against Liverpool.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has said that he has never seen a Red Devils team "as bad as that" following their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Ralf Rangnick's side were second-best throughout the contest at Anfield, with Liverpool moving to the top of the Premier League table courtesy of a four-goal success over their bitter rivals.

Neville has said that it was "a sobering evening" for Man United, who are "a million miles away" from the Reds "in every department".

"Man Utd were a million miles away from that Liverpool team in every department. On and off the pitch. It was a sobering evening," Neville told Sky Sports News. "We expected it. Not one Man Utd fan came here with any hope whatsoever. That team has got nothing.

"There are some decent players out on that pitch and some talent. I cannot explain how it's gone from what would be slightly promising at the end of last season finishing second - I know they lost in the Europa League final which was a bad one - to the point where we are today which is an all-time low in my 42 years of watching United. I've never seen it as bad as that. I've never seen a Man Utd team wilt and be as flaky in a game of football in my 40 years."

Neville's former teammates Roy Keane and Paul Scholes were also scathing in their assessment of the club in the aftermath of the four-goal loss at Anfield, which has left Man United with a mountain to climb in their bid to secure a top-four spot in the table.
