Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov believes that Roberto Mancini's side have a fighting chance in the Champions League.

Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov believes that Roberto Mancini's side will be a "bigger threat" away from home in the Champions League.

The Blues rescued themselves from defeat with a 1-1 draw against Napoli in their first ever Champions League match last night (Wednesday).

Despite failing to secure three points on home soil, Dickov is confident that City's squad will ensure they progress through the competition.

"I think because Manchester City have had such a good start to the season people were expecting them to turn up and get three points, but Napoli were so well organised," the Scot told talkSPORT.

"They've got a fantastic squad and Carlos Tevez was on the bench, Mario Balotelli wasn't in the squad, and Nigel de Jong is returning from injury.

"Away from home in the Champions League with those sort of players they'll be a bigger threat. Teams will come to City and, because of the players they've got, the likes of David Silva, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, teams will shut up shop and look to get the draw."

The North West side resume Premier League action this weekend with an away trip to Fulham on Sunday.
