Liverpool on worst home run in club's history

Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea means that Liverpool have now lost five successive home matches for the first time in their history.

Thursday's 1-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea at Anfield means that Liverpool have now lost five successive home matches for the first time in their history.

Mason Mount scored the only goal of the contest as the Blues boosted their top-four hopes with a victory on Merseyside, with the result leaving Liverpool down in seventh position in the table.

The Reds have now lost five consecutive home matches for the first time in their history, with Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, Everton and now Chelsea triumphing at Anfield since January 21.

Jurgen Klopp's side have not actually been victorious on home soil in any competition since a 2-1 success over Tottenham Hotspur in the middle of December.

The reigning champions are locked in a serious battle for a Champions League position, sitting four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, and have another home league game against Fulham this weekend.

Klopp's team, who will play the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with RB Leipzig next week, have also become the first reigning English top-flight champion to lose five home league matches in a row.
