Everton have not won at their rivals since 1999.

Everton will travel across Stanley Park to face Liverpool full of confidence on Sunday, according to left-back Lucas Digne.

The Toffees may not have won at Anfield since 1999, but they are paying no attention to historic statistics and taking encouragement from their recent form instead.

Marco Silva's side have taken 16 points from their last seven games, with last weekend's 1-0 win over Cardiff pushing them up to sixth place in the Premier League before this weekend's matches.

And their last away game was a 0-0 draw at Chelsea, with Everton the first visiting side to record a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge this season.

Silva has been keen to prevent the derby hype from derailing his side's recent momentum, and Digne has taken that message on board as he said they would treat this match no differently.

"It is the mentality of the club and the coach and the team – we want to win every game," Digne said on the club's website.

"It is important to get good results against big teams.

"We have a good mentality and we work hard every week. That is the most important thing. We will go into the game with confidence."

Digne is one of a number of key players in Silva's squad – alongside the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes – who will be playing in their first Merseyside derby, but the former Barcelona and Roma man has plenty of experience when it comes to rivalry matches.

He was part of the Roma team that beat Lazio home and away in 2015/16, and has also tasted El Clasico in Spain, albeit on the losing side for Barca in 2017.

"We are all looking forward to it," he said.

"It will be a great game and one we want to win.

"Our fans our magnificent. They are behind us every time and I am certain they will be behind us at Anfield."
