Liverpool's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the Liverpool squad.

Liverpool have enjoyed an incredible 2019-20 Premier League campaign to date, winning 27 of their 29 matches, suffering just one defeat in the process, to hold a healthy advantage at the summit.

The Reds are 25 points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the table but did not mathematically secure the title before play was halted last month.

As a result, the club are waiting to find out whether play will be allowed to continue or whether they might be handed the title even if the campaign is called off.

There is no question that Jurgen Klopp's side have been excellent this term, with a number of individuals impressing for the European champions.

Here Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

The presence of both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the top of this selection is not a surprise; the pair have been handed valuations of £135m, and both have again been in good scoring form this season, Salah netting 20 goals in all competitions while Mane - recently linked with Real Madrid - has 18.

The fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold (£99m) is above Virgil van Dijk (£90m) is perhaps a touch surprising, although the former is younger and is far from his peak despite his excellent form.

Key duo Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino are also towards the top end of the list with £81m valuations, while Andrew Robertson is next with £72m, which is hard to argue against as the Scotland international has again been key to the team's excellent form during the 2019-20 campaign.

Fabinho's presence above the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum and Joe Gomez is a surprise, though, while Jordan Henderson is down the list with a £31.5m valuation despite arguably being the team's most consistent player this term. Indeed, Henderson's spot and value is perhaps the biggest talking point in this particular list.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£31.5m) has been given the same valuation as Henderson, while James Milner is also down the list, largely due to the fact that the Englishman will be 35 at the start of 2021.

Curtis Jones is actually the lowest-ranked outfield player with a valuation of £1.8m, but the 19-year-old has impressed when given the opportunity this season, scoring twice in the FA Cup.

In truth, it is not a surprise that two goalkeepers in the shape of Andy Lonergan and Caoimhin Kelleher are the bottom two. The former has not made a single appearance for the Reds since joining from Middlesbrough last summer, although the latter has featured three times in the EFL Cup and once in the FA Cup this term.
