Result: FC Halifax Town 0-4 Charlton Athletic

Chris Powell's Charlton Athletic move into round two of the FA Cup with a comfortable victory over FC Halifax Town.

League One leaders Charlton Athletic confirmed their presence in the draw for round two of the FA Cup with a 4-0 win over non-league FC Halifax Town this afternoon.

The Addicks led at the break courtesy of Matthew Taylor, who headed in a cross from Paul Hayes after 40 minutes.

Their progression was sealed ten minutes from time by captain Johnnie Jackson, who shot left-footed into the net from the edge of the area.

Just two minutes later Chris Powell's side extended the lead further when Danny Hollands scored from close range.

Blue Square North side Halifax were then reduced ten men after Danny Lowe was penalised for a foul on Scott Wagstaff.

With time running out, substitute Bradley Pritchard rounded off the scoring when he converted Michael Smith's pass from 12 yards out.
