Corentin Martins says that he will give his all to help Brest survive in Ligue 1.

Brest interim coach Corentin Martins has admitted that he will do everything he can to keep the club in Ligue 1 for the second year running.

Martins has taken over temporarily from the sacked Landry Chauvin and said that his love for the club meant that he could not say no to leading the side again.

"I wasn't a candidate for the job," Martins told Ligue1.com. "We tried to work on several leads with coaches. This is an interim role and we'll see how long it lasts. Safety will come from results and I hope we'll get results as quickly as possible.

"I was asked to take over the first team and maybe you can consider me a madman. I was born in Brest, I came up through the Brest youth system and I started my professional career at Brest. I love the club and that's why I accepted the mission.

"I've always given everything for this club. I've been sporting director for seven years and I've been 100% in charge of recruitment for the last four years. During that time we've been promoted and managed to stay up in Ligue 1 two seasons running."

Brest are currently 18th in Ligue 1, two points from safety.
