Neymar reportedly informs Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his desire to leave the club this summer.

Neymar has reportedly informed Paris Saint-Germain he wants to leave the club this summer.

The Brazilian completed a move to the French capital in 2017 after PSG activated the €222m (£191m) release clause in his Barcelona contract.

During his six-year stay with the Parisians, Neymar has won five league titles, three Coupe de France trophies, three French Super Cups and two Coupe de la Ligue winners' medals.

Neymar has a contract with PSG until 2025 with an option to extend by a further 12 months, but it appears that his time with the club could be nearing its conclusion.

According to L'Equipe, the 31-year-old has told PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his desire to secure a move away before the end of the summer transfer window.

There is a belief that Neymar's decision was influenced by an incident in May when angry PSG fans gathered outside his home and chanted for him to leave the club.

The report suggests that Neymar is keen to return to Barcelona, where he enjoyed four successful years before completing a move to PSG.

However, the Catalan giants may find it difficult to sign the Brazil international due to their ongoing financial problems.

Neymar was linked with a move to Chelsea in January, and they are supposedly set to renew their interest following the latest developments.

There is now a possibility that the French champions could lose Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the same transfer window.

Messi joined Inter Miami earlier this summer following the expiry of his PSG contract, while Mbappe is embroiled in a standoff with the club's hierarchy after refusing to sign a new deal.

PSG are unlikely to stand in Neymar's way after previously indicating that they would be willing to sell the Brazil international as they move away from their previous transfer strategy of signing high-profile players.

They are focused on building a younger team under the tutelage of newly-appointed boss Luis Enrique, who is set to add Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Benfica's Goncalo Ramos to his squad.

PSG are currently finalising their preparations for the new season, which gets underway on Saturday with a home fixture against Lorient.
