Eddie Howe admits that he is "looking forward" to throwing Jack Wilshere into his first-team plans at Bournemouth after giving the midfielder his debut on Saturday.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised Jack Wilshere for his hard-working performance in the 2-1 friendly defeat to AC Milan on Saturday afternoon.

The England international played 45 minutes of the match before being taken off, three days after completing a season-long loan switch from Arsenal.

Howe was keen to take some positives away from the match, held to honour cult figure Warren Cummings, and believes that giving Wilshere his first run-out in a Bournemouth shirt was one of them.

"Overall I thought we dominated the game and there's plenty for us to think about," he told the club's official website. "Several of the boys did really well today and we had a few players returning from injury.

"Jack Wilshere also came in and did very well. I thought he showed his technical quality in and around the box. He worked really hard for the team which is of course important. We're looking forward to working with Jack further and integrating him into our team."

Wilshere was left out of Sam Allardyce's first squad as England manager for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Slovakia due to a lack of playing time.
