Arsenal can set a brand new all-time English football league record when they face Sheffield United on Monday, following their two huge away wins during February.

Arsenal have the opportunity to set a new all-time English league record against Sheffield United on Monday.

Mikel Arteta's men could become the first team in the top four tiers of English football to win three consecutive away games by five goals or more.

The Gunners won 6-0 away to West Ham United and 5-0 at Turf Moor against Burnley in their two Premier League games on the road during February, and now stand on the brink of history.

Arsenal have scored 25 and conceded just three in their six Premier League matches so far in 2024, unsurprisingly winning all six.

That has brought Arteta's side back into the title race after a slight slip late in 2023, as they now sit just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal must wait until the final game of the matchday to keep their title challenge alive though, travelling to Bramall Lane on Monday.

Before then, Liverpool will travel to Nottingham Forest and Manchester City will host rivals Manchester United at the Etihad.

Arsenal have already broken one remarkable Premier League record during their recent goal-laden run, becoming the first team to score at least two goals in seven consecutive halves of football.

Their two second-half strikes against Liverpool and the four that they split evenly against Newcastle United helped towards setting that record, along with the thrashings of West Ham and Burnley.

Upcoming opponents Sheffield United also have the poorest defensive record in the division, having conceded a mammoth 66 goals in 26 matches so far this season.

One omen that could go in Arsenal's favour if they are to target that new record is that the Blades have lost their last two home games by 5-0 scorelines, to Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sheffield United's previous home game before those two crushing defeats also saw them concede five, in a 5-2 FA Cup loss, again to Brighton.
