Jorginho brace sends Hellas Verona fourth

Two Jorginho penalties help Hellas Verona beat Parma 3-2 to go fourth in Serie A.

Hellas Verona have fought back to maintain their terrific start to the season against Parma, with Jorginho's last-gasp penalty enough to send the newly-promoted side fourth in Serie A.

Verona took on Parma with a 100% home record and broke the deadlock after nine minutes through Fabrizio Cacciatore, who volleyed into the corner from close range.

Parma produced a strong response, though, scoring twice in six minutes to take control at the break.

First Marco Parolo smashed in from range with a blistering drive and then Antonio Cassano controlled neatly before measuring home.

Verona were back in the ascendancy after the interval as Luca Toni's strike was disallowed for a foul in the box.

Toni was involved again soon after as he won a penalty kick after being pushed by Mattia Cassani, with Jorginho making no mistake to level the match on 60 minutes.

Both sides pushed for a late winner in a free-flowing match but it was Verona who edged ahead just three minutes from time.

Jorginho was the man who made the difference as Verona were awarded a second spot kick, with the Brazilian blocked by Marco Machionni in the box.

After a delay Jorginho got up to complete a match-winning brace, denying Parma a share of the points in a frenetic clash.
