Tottenham Hotspur reach Wembley agreement with UEFA

Tottenham Hotspur confirm that they will play their first home Champions League fixture at Wembley as they await the completion of their new stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with UEFA to stage their opening Champions League home match at Wembley Stadium.

The Lilywhites are currently without a permanent home ground due to construction delays at the 62,000-capacity 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium'.

Spurs have already moved their Premier League games against Liverpool and Cardiff City, on September 15 and October 6 respectively, from their new venue to temporary home Wembley.

An agreement is also now in place to stage their first Champions League home match at the national stadium, while talks are ongoing about potentially swapping the venue for their other remaining home group games.

Spurs may also be forced to apply for special dispensation to stage next month's EFL Cup third-round tie at a neutral venue or reverse the fixture to play it away, as Wembley is already being used that week.
