Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn still a target for Sheffield United?

Sheffield United retain interest in Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn, according to reports.

Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn is reportedly still a target for Sheffield United, despite concerns that his £10m price tag is too high.

The Sheffield Star suggests that although United boss Chris Wilder is prepared to look elsewhere to reshape his squad, officials at Bramall Lane remain determined to sign Waghorn.

However, the newspaper also claims that Middlesbrough could hijack their bid by using the £7m fee from their sale of Patrick Bamford to Leeds United to help fund a bid for the Englishman.

Newly-appointed Derby County manager Frank Lampard is also reportedly interested in signing Waghorn, although he may need to sell Matej Vydra first in order to comply with the English Football League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Sheffield United will face Swansea City at home in their opening Championship fixture on Saturday, with the transfer window closing the following week on August 9.
