San Jose Earthquakes edge out 10-man Dallas

Strikes from Atiba Harris and Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi hand the San Jose Earthquakes victory over 10-man Dallas to secure their second win in as many weeks in the MLS.

San Jose Earthquakes secured back-to-back wins in the MLS as they recorded a 2-1 victory over 10-man Dallas on Saturday.

The visitors started brightly and should have taken the lead when Shea Salinas cut the ball back to Steven Lenhart inside the six-yard box, but he could only poke his effort wide.

San Jose were to rue that miss as Dallas took the lead through Blas Perez when he volleyed home Fabian Castillo's cross from close range.

The Earthquakes rallied and got their equaliser in the 27th minute when Lenhart teed up Atiba Harris on the edge of the area, and he found the bottom corner with a right-footed effort.

Matters got worse for the home side minutes later when Adam Moffat picked up his second yellow card of the game and was given his marching orders for bringing down Yannick Djalo.

San Jose took the lead right on the stroke of half time when Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi found the net with a 35-yard wonder strike, which sailed into the top corner past the outstretched hand of Chris Seitz.

The hosts were handed a chance to get back into the game when Jordan Stewart brought down Castillo in the area. However, Jon Busch made a brilliant save to keep out Castillo's spot kick.

Castillo tried to atone for his miss in the 58th minute when he raided inside the box down the left and cut inside back onto his right, but his drilled shot was straight at Busch.

Zach Lloyd had a great chance to find an equaliser in the dying minutes when he collected Tesho Akindele's layoff on the edge of the area, but his goalbound shot was well saved by Busch.
